Render Cleaning

How do you clean render?

We are City & Guilds trained in render soft washing which is an approved method of safely cleaning and treating render. We don't use high pressure washing on render as this can cause damage to the render surface and doesn't treat the underlying cause of the staining. Instead, the soft washing method treats the bio growth within the render, removing the sources of algae and mould leaving it cleaner for longer.

This render soft wash process is usually performed in two phases. The initial phase involves carefully applying a HSE approved bio treatment. This is absorbed into the render and works at the bio growth present. Initially, the render may look dirtier as the bio growth is pulled out to the surface. Though this will only last a short while.

Phase two of the Softwash process is performed at least 5 weeks after the initial treatment to allow enough time for the biocide treatment to work at the bio growth. At this stage a licensed oxidiser will then be spot applied where shadowing remains.

What are the benefits of render soft washing?

Soft washing is an approved cleaning method by render companies. It treats the source of staining and grubbiness meaning the service lasts for much longer than pressure washing.

Pressure washing can not only cause damage and invalidate your render warrantee, but it only cleans the surface of the render and doesn't treat the source so it doesn't take long to grow back.
